TODAY'S LESSON: CHOICES

What if you could have a wild animal for a pet;

which one would you choose?

What if you had a million dollars;

how would you spend it?

What if you had a genie that granted one wish per day;

how would you use them?

What if you could travel back in time;

where would you go?

What if you were stranded on an island with one possession;

what would it be?

What if you were President for one day;

what would you do?

So many choices, where should we begin? I know! let's take a look at what God has to say about it.

We'll begin with Matthew 6. The whole chapter is written in red so we know that this is Jesus speaking when he says,

v 11 "Give us this day our daily bread"

(God wants us to trust him for the things in the future so just don't go there. Don't feel that you have to make all your decisions in one split second. Take your time, use your brain(a little common sense never hurt anyone), and then do what you know is right. And if you don't know what's right: pray about it, God will show you what's right)

v 13 "And lead us not into temptation, but deliever us from evil..."

(God's got our back. As long as we stick with him we've got nothing to worry about. He has promisedthat he will never leave us or forsake us. And he never goes back on his word.)

v 19 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth..."

(The things of this world are temporary, only the things that are from above will last.)

v 24 "No man can serve two masters..."

(There's a battle going on inside each and every one of us.)

The big question is: Who's going to win?

Answer: The one you feed the most

v 33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God..."

(God wants nothing more than to give us our hearts desires, but he can only do that if we look to him for the answers)

v 34 "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."

(Every day comes with it's own problems: As the old saying goes, "Don't cross that bridge till you get to it or you might get your feet wet)

Finally, let's take a look at Philippians 4:6

"Be careful for nothing;but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God."

These are just a few verses that will help you in making good choices, wise choices, responsible choices.

Will I continue to make bad choices? Sometimes.

(Remember we're humans and regardless of what anyone tells you all humans make mistakes.)

Will God stop loving me if I make a bad choice? No.

(His love for us is unconditional. He knows our decisions before we ever make them, but he gives us the freedom to make those choices. He's so good that way!)

Will others stop loving me if I make a bad choice? They might.

(Friends will come and friends will go, but Jesus is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.)

So, let's see now. We've covered alot of ground today. Let's review.

FORGET THE PAST

(It'll keep you from doing now what you should have done then

FOCUS ON THE PRESENT

(Today is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it)

LOOK FORWARD TO THE FUTURE

(Don't sweat it! God is already there and he won't let you fall if you'll just lean his way)
