TODAY'S LESSON: GOALS

"I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus"

Philippians 3:14

Webster defines a goal as a point set to win a race;a mark that players in any given sport must attain;final purpose;end

Remember

Forget the past

Focus on the present

Look forward to the future

Our goals lie in the future, but the only way for us to attain them is to look forward. If we look back at the past we are sure to fail.

At the same time the past is important in that we can learn from it. Just don't stay too long or you might be sucked back in.

We all have different goals for our lives and sometimes our goals and God's will are two totally diffferent things. When this happens we should always change our way of thinking and adopt his.

Generally speaking there are some things to remember when trying to obtain goals: Here are just a few:

1. A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH: It took me a long time to understand this one. Simply put. don't always assume that something better will come along, Most people think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence and so they pass up many a opportunity.

2. DON'T SPEND MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE: Jesus already paid it all so why do you want to go in debt?

and

3. DON'T PLAY THE IF/THEN GAME: The past is just that, the past. You can't change it no matter what you do, but what you can change is your future. So reflect on your past long enough to see where you might have gone wrong and move on.

Well, there's more, but I'll just leave it at 3. One more thing, we're all on this journey, you and me.

Romans 3:23 says this:

FOR ALL HAVE SINNED, AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

Making mistakes is part of the journey and sometimes, you and I, we're bound to stumple. That's where Jesus comes in. So if you find yourself thinking that you're on this journey alone you might just want to take a step back and

let "Jesus take the wheel"!
