TODAY'S LESSON:  HEAD SMARTS/HEART SMARTS

Thy word have I hid in mine heart,

that I might not sin against thee.

Psalm 119:11

It has been said that the distance between heaven and earth

is approximately 18”.

That’s the same distance from the head to the heart.

Remember King Agrippa: In Acts 26:28b

Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christan.

(Almost, almost…almost just isn’t good enough.)

When Jesus was speaking to the Laodicean church he had this to say:

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:

I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,

I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Revelation 3:15-16

In Matthew 6:24 Jesus said:

No man can serve two masters:

for either he will hate the one, and love the other;

or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

So many people today are trying to please others

with superficial words and deeds.

They’ve forgotten who matters most.

You know the old saying:

The light’s on, but no one’s at home.

That’s pretty much it.

I’m reminded of Doubting Thomas. You remember him don’t you?

He said:

Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails,

and put my finger into the print of the nails,

and thrust my hand into his side,

I will not believe.

Not very trusting, was he?

How about you?

Is God’s word just on your mind where moths and rust doth corrupt,

and where thieves break through and steal

or is it hidden in your heart

so that you might not sin against him.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:21
