TODAY'S LESSON: REST

For the most part when we hear the word rest we think of sleep, but there is another kind of rest that I want to talk about today.

Resting in the Spirit of the Lord

Our pastor preached on this a couple of weeks ago.

As soon as he mentioned the title of the sermon my mind immediately went to

Psalm 23

The first thing we need to realize is that this is a restless world.

Why is it restless?

SIN

"Sin will take you further than you want to go,

make you stay longer than you want to stay,

and make you pay more than you want to pay."

How can we keep it all in check?

Here's what Psalm 121:1-2 says about that:

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My hellp cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Secondly, this is a restless world because of disappointment.

Satan gets down right tickled when one of us stops doing a work for God

because of disappointment.

The world in general hates Christians

and so there will always be disappointments,

but...

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Roman 8:37

Oh, 1 more thing:

If you're disappointment ever lies with the fact that others seem to have it all together

just take to heart the words of

Psalm 37: 1

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious againt the workers of iniquity.

Finally, how do we obtain rest:?

REMEMBER THAT JESUS IS THE LIGHTHOUSE!

AND

TAKE ONE DAY AT TIME.
